The fast boat Bali to Gili Air offers a daily departure from Bali. Most boat operators depart in the morning, and some in the afternoon.

The Boat Departure Point

Numbers of fast boats offer daily trips from South East Bali and North East Bali. They depart at a different time each other. The early schedule in the morning is at 08.00 am and the afternoon schedule is at 13.00.

Here are the harbors where the boat departs from Bali:

  • Padang Bai, Northeast Bali. It is a perfect harbor to get on the boat to Gili if you stay in Ubud and Candidasa areas.
  • Serangan in the Southeast Bali. This harbor is recommended for you who stay in Kuta, Legian, Nusa Dua, and other areas in south Bali.
  • Sanur is the Southeast Bali. It is one of the main harbors for boat transfers to Nusa Penida and Gili islands. The harbor is the perfect choice if you stay in Sanus, Legian, Kuta, and other Bali south areas.
  • Benoa in Southeast Bali is also one of the recommended harbors to get to Gili Island located in southeast Bali.
  • Amed in the Northeast Bali is the only harbor in Amed. It is a perfect harbor to get on the boat to Gili or Lombok if you stay in the Amed area.

Gili Air can be reached in 1 ½ hour on the boat and can be more if the sea is rough. All the boats will make a stopover in Lombok before continuing to Gili Air.

The Fast Boat Trip Duration

The fast boat Bali to Gili Air trip duration depends on the sea condition. There are 4 departure points in Bali such as Padang Bai, Sanur, Amed, and Benoa.

If you get on the boat from Southeast Bali such as Sanur and Serangan, you will need approximately 2 1/2 hours. It can be 3 hours, depending on the sea condition. This is only the crossing time, while the hotel transfers from the South Bali area are about 30 minutes.

The crossing time from Padang Bai harbor is 1 1/2 hours. And you will need 1 1/2 hours for the transfer from South Bali such as Kuta. It is a perfect choice if you stay in Ubud, you will only spend about 30 minutes getting to Padang Bai. 

Daily Fast Boat Bali to Gili Air From Amed

Free Bird Express and Kuda Hitam Express are the only fast boat running daily from Amed to Gili Air. The boat leaves at 08.00 AM from Jemeluk beach Amed. They will make the first stop in Gili Trawangan, and then Gili Air and Lombok.

The boat from Amed offers a daily departure and is scheduled only in the morning. In the high season, they can offer 2 schedules, in the morning and afternoon.

The high season is normally from June to 15 January every year. So during this season, you may choose to book the morning or afternoon boat from Amed.
